Current Stuff
This website runs on the spirits of sacrificed pandas and baby seals.
The Current ISP is through slicehost. They don’t do shared hosting (like DreamHost), but offer full virtual servers for very reasonable prices. So I have complete root access to my environment. This is both good and bad, since it is pretty easy to screw things up.
This is currently running on WordPress 2.6.
History
1999ish - Way back in the day I hacked together something that I called an “engine” to display html via Perl. It was probably awful and I don’t really remember it that well, so I won’t be talking too much about that.
2000 or so - I learned PHP at some point and thought I was King Awesome, and of course re did the site using that. While it was slightly less stinky that what the first iteration was, it is still a good thing that I lost all the code a couple of years ago.
2003 - WordPress. Finally at some point I wised up and let some other poor schlep code for me and just installed WordPress 1.something.
2004 - .Text. Since I was working in a .NET environment, I moved my website over to a .NET host, and used the .Text blogging engine.
2005 - SubText. The developer of .Text decided to take his product and turn it into a commercial venture, so I moved over to an open source fork of the old product, SubText.
2006 - Now - WordPress (again). At some point I realized that .NET hosting cost money and I didn’t feel like paying too much for it, so I jumped ship back to Linuxland and re-installed WordPress.
